- Project Type Bathroom Transformation
- Room Size 2m x 3m
A spectacular transformation of this bathroom in a old cottage from one of our client’s in West Cork
The Challenge
In a 2m x 3m room, client wanted us to to create a sumptuous bathroom and to have a sauna that is big enough for 2 people to lie in the sauna. The major challenge in the room was the location of the window & the orientation of the entire bathroom.
The Solution
This steam room is a true work of art.
We designed this steam room to match the rest of the house’s aesthetic, but in a way that was still unique and special. The design has a luxurious and calming feel that makes it the perfect place to relax after a long day. We established a bespoke ‘Yoku’ design sauna to fit within the space.
The home sauna was created using large format metal effect tiles 3000mm x 1500mm to give it a rustic look and feel. The selection of colours and sizes of tiles was critical to making sure they matched the rest of the room while maintaining an upscale feel. The colour, size and material of these tiles makes them incredibly beautiful, so much so that they almost look like they’re not real—like something out of a dream. To match the intrinsic copper tones in the tiles we selected copper brassware in showers & taps to tie the space into a luxurious bathroom with sauna & steam
We also wanted to make sure that the lighting in this space was just right. We incorporated mood changeable LED lighting into all three benches within the sauna so that there would be no dark corners and everything would feel warm and inviting. To enhance this even more, we also installed speakers inside each bench so that they could play music from your phone or any other Bluetooth-compatible device!
The steam room reaches temperatures up to 100° C (212° F) with humidity levels close to zero percent for maximum relaxation.
Customer Prospective
When we started this project during COVID, we dreamed of a small spa & would it be possible to have a sauna. Both of us and the children are quite into sport & one of the boxes we wanted to tick was a full Swedish sauna that was able to control all the temperature & design aspect. After touring the length & breadth of Ireland, we arrived in Versatile & met Susan. After this, the journey was seamless & she took us by the hand. Her knowledge on sauna & wellbeing was phenomenal. So we put our faith in Susan, including picking the large format metal tiles & the copper fittings which we were very nervous about. But thankfully, the whole family is absolutely delighted. If I should say it to anybody – Should you go for Sauna? Absolutely.
